PWR's Annual Outdoor Fundraiser, This Saturday, Sept. 11, Features Great Performers and Fun Family Activities


Brush off your lawn chairs and pack up your picnic basket! The artists are all lined up for Parents Who Rock’s Annual Outdoor Festival. Many great performers have signed on to be a part of this year’s fundraiser, which promises to have great music and fun activities for the whole family. (Photo above shows Client no. 9, who will be playing again this year, performing at last year's event.)

The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, at 72 High Street, corner of Cedar and High Streets in Montclair.

Here's the schedule of performers:

Each band/performer will play for approximately 15 minutes.

In addition, many local businesses have signed up to provide wonderful activities for kids and families, including:

Noon to 6 p.m. Arts and crafts with Patch Montclair.

Noon to 3 p.m. Evans W. Chigounis, licensed massage therapist of 74 Hands.com, therapeutic massage, provides 6 to 8 minute massages.

Noon to 4:30 p.m. Arts and crafts with BaristaKids.

Noon to 2 p.m. Face painting from Aunt Jean's Toys and Treats.

1 to 2 p.m. Mahir's Barber Shop offers free back-to-school buzz cuts.

2 to 3 p.m. All kids welcome to explore yoga with Lotus Yoga teacher Jacquie Ruderman. Free class cards will be available to use at Lotus Yoga in Montclair. Kids class starts this week every Wednesday and Friday at 4 p.m. (special needs kids yoga).

3 to 6 p.m. Kids' punk hairstyles by Alicia's Hair Design.

3 to 6 p.m. Guitar instruction for kids from Little Kids Rock.

Noon to 6 p.m. Marie St. Victor Koch Jewelry sale, with a percentage of sales going to YCS (see below).

Noon to 6 p.m. Alisa Harmon and Music For Aardvarks will give away a session as one door prize, and a set of compilation CDs as another door prize. She'll also give $25 to "the cause" for each registrant.

The event has no admission charge, but Parents Who Rock will be passing the hat to help raise funds for Youth Consultation Service, which helps to give more than 400 Essex County kids in group homes support so they can have a better chance at life. The fundraiser will help to provide each YCS child with a birthday gift card.
