TODAY! PWR's Outdoor Fest Features Music and Fun for the Whole Family

Parents Who Rock’s annual outdoor music fest and picnic takes place today, Saturday, September 10, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. in the yard at 72 High Street, corner of Cedar and High Streets, in Montclair.

The free event will feature great music as well as fun activities for kids, vendors selling their wares, and raffles for wonderful prizes.

Bands will be playing roughly 15-minute sets. Here's the schedule of performers:

For kids, Aunt Jean’s Toys and Treats will sponsor face painting from 12 noon to 2 p.m.. Lotus in Action will be doing yoga for kids from 3 to 4 p.m. And Ahava Felicidad Hair and Body will be giving temporary hair and feather extensions from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

In addition, there will be cool raffles: School of Rock will be raffling a gift certificate for two month’s tuition for any of their programs—an up to $650 value. PWR will also be raffling off a brand new electric guitar.

Several wonderful vendors will be on hand. Stella and Dot Jewelry will be selling both jewelry and—not to be missed—their gorgeous new handbag line, which they describe as "affordable luxury," manufactured in the same factories as Coach, Kate Spade, Burberry and Prada.

Maria Koch Jewelry will also be at the fest, selling handmade designs.

This year, Parents Who Rock will be honoring soundman extraordinaire, Ed Carine, who tirelessly hauls the sound equipment, sets it up and serves as sound technician at most PWR shows. He also helps run Terry's Serendipity Cafe, which provides a creative outlet for Montclair teens. We will be collecting donations for Terry's in honor of Ed.

We will also be collecting non-perishable food donations to help out local food pantries, whose supplies have been depleted after a long, difficult summer. So please bring a can or two to donate.

Remember to pack a picnic basket with food and drinks and bring your own blanket and some lawn chairs. We'll supply the great music.

Raindate is Saturday, September 17.
