PWR Unplugs Tonight for Earth Hour

Artists from Parents Who Rock will give an acoustic performance as part of Earth Hour, an international event that asks people, businesses and organizations around the world to turn off their lights for one hour Saturday, March 28, at 8:30 p.m., to make a global statement about climate change and their commitment to solving the problem. Ellen Paretti, Alisa Harmon, Jessica Henry and Julian Keenan will perform at Monclair's Earth Hour observance at the memorial at Edgemont Park. The event begins at 8 p.m.

At 8:30 p.m. Montclair Mayor Jerry Fried will symbolically turn off the light of the obelisk, and people will have a chance to explain why they are there and share their pledges for reducing their carbon footprints. Students will be selling “tree grams” (small saplings).

Families are asked to observe the event just by turning out their lights in their home--sitting inside or out in their yard--and using the time to talk, tell stories, or play games.
