Come on out this Friday, Nov. 4, for a local band double header for a good cause featuring two PWR bands: Sock Monster and their special guests The No Rehearsals, upstairs at Tierney’s, raising money to help support WFMU, their favorite local radio station.
Sock Monster—John Paul Uva (guitar, keyboard, vocals), Jim Kvoriak (guitar, vocals) Bob Terhune (bass, vocals) and Andy Yeates (drums)—will play their smart pop/punk covers, many from obscure artists you can hear only on an independent station like WFMU.
The No Rehearsals, featuring Parents Who Rock founder Alma Schneider on vocals, will start off the evening with a fun set of eclectic covers. The band, which features a ragtag group of ne'er-do-practice musicians, includes Miguel Rodriguez on drums, and from Sock Monster, Uva on guitar, as well as Terhune, sitting in on bass for this show.
Both bands have pledged to donate the money they bring in to the station, which is currently having a silent fundraiser.
Music starts at 9 p.m. $5 cover. Tierney’s is located at 136 Valley Road, Montclair.
