Volunteers and Donations Needed

Parents Who Rock is looking for volunteers to work at the big Rock the Schools benefit concert to be held in early April. The show is the culmination of our efforts to raise money for Little Kids Rock, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing more music education into the public schools. Our goal is to raise $50,000 by April, which will be used to purchase musical instruments as well as to train teachers in music instruction. It will be a night of great musical performances, wonderful food and drinks and fastastic raffles and auctions.

There are many way you can help.

Parents Who Rock needs volunteers to help on the day of the event, with set-up or cleanup, to check in guests, sell raffle tickets, and assist with food and bartending.

In addition, we need donations of beverages (soda, bottled water, beer, wine and other alcoholic drinks), food and decorations. We also are looking for people and businesses who can donate raffle items. In previous years, raffle donations have included weekend use of a vacation house, tickets to tapings of TV shows, tickets to sporting events, and gift certificates for local restaurants, stores, salons and spas. In addition, many local businesspeople have donated their services, including photographers, garden designers, decorators and personal trainers.

The show is planned for 7 to 11 p.m, Saturday, April 4, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 67 Church Street in Montclair. If you feel you can donate something, please e-mail alma@parentswhorock.com.
